The Great Palace and the Iconoclast Emperors

Under the iconoclast emperors, the Great Palace kept its ancient function of imperial house and court, with the addition of some new buildings, especially under Theophilos (729-742), but it acquired a new function, since it became the center of the administrative power with the centralization of the logothesia (more or less ministeries) around the emperor.
